Franklin E. “Frank” Mooney

Franklin E. “Frank” Mooney, age 81, of Marion, passed away Wednesday evening, July 2, 2014, at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born at home in Marion County on November 9, 1932 to the late William O. and Hazel H. (Cress) Mooney.FrankattendedHarding High School and shortly after enlisted in the United States Army where he was proud to servehis country honorably during the Korean Conflict.
On August 14, 1955, Frank married the love of his life, Beverly J. Cook. Together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage and raised three children: Mike, Lynda, and Marc.
Frank retired from Armco Steel, formerly Pollack Steel, in 1981.Afterwards he continued to work part-time doing light maintenance and janitorial duties.
He was a family man and spent many Saturday nights making homemade pizzas for the family. Frank was also known to be a Mr. Fix-It and could fix most household items. In his spare time Frank liked to watch NASCAR where he cheered on any of the Ford drivers.He also liked to listen to country music. He was member of Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church where he served as a Trustee.
Frank will be dearly missed by his wife, Bev; children: Mike (Michele) Mooney of Van Wert, Lynda (Guy) Schlichting of Marion, andMarc Mooney of Marion; grandchildren: Jacob and Hannah Schlichting, Raven and CJ Mooney, and Ethan and Ellie Mooney; a brother: Stan (Janet) Mooney of GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Myron and Ron Mooney.
A graveside service celebrating his life will be held Friday, July 11, 2014, at 11:00 AMin Marion Cemetery with Rev. Joe Sopher officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Marion County United Veterans Council.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church, 908 E. Center St., Marion, OH 43302.
