Frank E. Baker
October 20, 1928 ‒ June 18, 2008
LUCAS: Frank E. Baker, 79, of Lucas, went to be present with the Lord Wednesday afternoon June 18, 2008 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital from complications of surgery.
He was born October 20, 1928 in Marietta to Frank D. and Altha (Burga) Baker, and was graduated from Newport High School.
A Mansfield area resident most of his life, Frank worked over 42 years with the Westinghouse Company, first in the enamel room, but most of his years there in the security department. He retired from White-Westinghouse in 1992.
Frank was a member of Community Baptist Bible Church, and served the congregation as an usher.
Though he loved to be outdoors either golfing or hunting deer, rabbit and squirrel, he didn’t much care to be away from his sweetheart: his loving wife Angeline Marie (Scott) Baker. They were married December 19, 1948, and went everywhere together: to get his hair cut, to get her hair done, to watch the grandsons play basketball and baseball, they were seldom apart. Frank enjoyed playing dominos with his brothers-in-law.
Hardworking and generous, Frank started early in his marriage to spoil and take care of his wife, and that loving care carried over to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His heart was big enough to love everyone. It was said about Frank “he never said a bad word about anyone.”
In addition to his wife of nearly 60 years, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Darlene & Tom Cox of Noblesville, IN, Marsha & Fritz Iceman of Ontario, and Connie & Dale Rader of Mansfield; his son & daughter-in-law Frank D. & Cathy Baker of Lucas; grandchildren Dawn & Greg Bell, Brian Cox, Craig & Victoria Iceman, Chris & Aimee Iceman, Jeffrey Matter, Joseph Matter, Austin Richard Baker, Chase Edwin Baker, Mandy Love and Molly Love; seven great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Martha & Dale Swingler and Mary & Martin Wynn all of Mansfield; sister-in-law Helen Shoemaker of Mansfield; brother-in-law Dave Edgar of Newport; numerous nieces and nephews; and cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister Lucille Edgar; and brothers Charles Baker and Randall Baker.
The family will receive friends today, Friday, June 20, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 350 Marion Avenue, Mansfield (Former Finefrock Funeral Home), where the funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Mel Hobson will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions to the Frank E. Baker Memorial Fund may be made at the funeral home.
