Frank A. Winters

MANSFIELD: Frank A. Winters, 92, of North McElroy Road East died Wednesday afternoon, March 31, 2004, in Pembroke Pines, Florida following a short illness.
He was born in Mansfield on February 9, 1912 to Henry Curtis and Mary Louise Damback Winters, was graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1930 and a lifelong resident. On June 13, 1936 he married Phyllis (Leonard) Winters, who after 59 years of marriage, preceded him in death.
Mr. Winters retired as a letter carrier from the U.S. Postal Service following 30 years of service and later worked for many years with the State of Ohio Department of Transportation.
Frank was an avid outdoorsman all his life and became a gunsmith and lapidary. He was a member of the Muzzleloader Association, Mansfield Gem and Lapidary Society, Mansfield Kennel Club and the Ashland County Wildlife Conservation League as well as a lifetime member of the N.R.A.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Melissa J. and Raymond Pierie of Pembroke Pines; a son and daughter-in-law Philip A. and DeAnne Winters of Richmond, Virginia; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
His sister Leona Winters Carey, and brothers Harold C. Winters and Raymond I. Winters preceded him in death.
A memorial service in celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 2 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home on Saturday, April 10, 2004. Pastor T.J. Waters of Lexington Church of Christ will officiate. Private burial services at Mansfield Memorial Park will be conducted at the family’s convenience.
Memorial contributions to the Richland County Foundation may be made at the funeral home.
