Francis Marion Walker
May 29, 1917 ‒ February 16, 2011
Francis M. Walker, age 93, of Marion died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Partners of Marion.
He was born on May 29, 1917 in Marion the son of the late Clarence and Myrna (Myers) Walker.
Francis was a graduate of Harding High School in the class of 1935 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during World War II.
Before enlisting in the service, Francis married Bertha G. Kase on November 24, 1940 Ironton, Ohio at the Elk’s Club. Their intentions were to be married in Kentucky, but when the found that the Kentucky marriage license could not be transferred, they hopped across the river to Ironton. Francis wore many hats professionally; he worked at the depot of the Railway Express where he unloaded and loaded freight cars; he was part owner of the Oakland Barber Shop where he cut hair for twenty years; he worked in the appliance and television departments at Sears for nine years; and worked for the Marion County Engineers Office, in the Highway Department, where he retired.

Whether he was bowling in the Senior’s League at Southland, golfing at Windy or Green Acres, or working outside on his lawn, Francis always managed to stay active.
He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Bertha; their daughter Myrna Eaggleston and her husband Larry of near Richwood; and grandchildren Jennifer Sidle and Jason Sidle of Marion.
