March 26, 1922 ‒ November 26, 2019
GALION: Longtime Bellville resident, Frances E. (Schoonover) Myers Morgan, age 97, peacefully passed away Tuesday morning, November 26, 2019 at home in her daughter’s Galion house under the care of HomeCare Matters Hospice with family by her side.
She was born March 26, 1922 in Chauncey, Ohio to parents Frank & Bertha (Hook) Schoonover. Frances worked as clerk for Quik-Chek in Bellville over 14 years where she did everything from scooping ice cream to making their deli spreads and ringing up customers. She had previously worked 8 years for Stoodt’s Grocery and knew just about everyone in the Clear Fork Valley.
Along with her husband Ira, Frances was an owner of Morgan’s Pool Room for 8 years in Fredericktown. She made many happy memories camping with her family. She enjoyed life on the farm and assisted her husband with over 100 acres of crops along with many animals.
Frances cherished spending time with her family and loving on her little Chihuahua canine companion, Honey. She was a member of Pentacostal House of Prayer in Mansfield where she was lovingly called the “Mother of the Church.” And she volunteered with a food bank in Edison, Ohio. Multitalented, Frances enjoyed crafts of all kinds including needlepoint, quilting, and crocheting. She also baked wedding cakes for a time. Frances was always welcoming to others and she was content with what she had—it didn’t take much to make her very happy. She leaves behind a large family legacy and they will miss her very much.
She is survived by her son Fred (Peggy) Myers of Galion; her daughter Norma Brady of Galion with whom she made her home, and Lois (Noah) Mathney of Mansfield; step-son Darrel (Ruby) Morgan of Mansfield; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Frank & Bertha Schoonover, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Myers, in 1960; her second husband, Ira Morgan; daughter Carol Shatzer; an infant son Donald Myers; her brother Charles Schoonover; half-siblings Allen Wolfe, William Wolfe, and Mary Eldridge; step-son Alan (Marilyn) Morgan; and son-in-law Earl Brady.
Her family will receive friends 11am-1pm Friday, November 29, 2019 in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home (81 Mill Road) where a funeral service honoring her life will begin at 1pm officiated by Pastor Sherry Berry and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
