November 16, 1928 ‒ March 06, 2014

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: A bookworm lives a thousand lives; they who never read live only one. Fran loved to read and at one time she even worked for the Mansfield Richland County Public Library. Her reading allowed her to learn much and she especially loved mystery novels. The time she spent studying the Bible strengthened her faith in her Savior
Fran Damoff passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a brief illness. She was 85.

Fran was born in Mansfield on November 16, 1928 to parents David John & Margery (Cozier) Davies. She was graduated from Madison High School with the class of 1946 and spent her life living in the Mansfield area. On August 12, 1951 she married Joseph Damoff and she dedicated her life to making a lovely home for him and their two children.

In addition to reading, she spent her free time sewing, gardening, and doting on her feline friends. She was also an excellent baker—friends & family raved about her fruit pies! She kept active, and had recently learned to play Mahjong by taking a class at the Ontario library. But above all, she dearly loved her grandchildren and cherished the time they spent together.

Fran was a member of the First Congregational Church in Mansfield and was very active in their ministry.

She is survived by her two children: son David A. (Melessa) Damoff of Ontario and daughter Stephanie K. (Jonathan Flothow) Damoff of NYC; five grandchildren: Ashley Damoff, Andrea (Jared) Funk, Alex Damoff, Annelese Damoff, and Abryanna Damoff; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Eleanor Burkholder, James Manring, Violet Hake, George & RoAnne Damoff, and Patricia Barrett; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph Damoff on Feb 26, 1998.

The family will receive friends 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014 in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home.
