Frances Irene Sapp, age 95, of Mount Vernon, died Sunday July 22, 2012 at the Laurels of Mount Vernon. Frances was born April 14, 1917 in Knox County to William and Sarah J. (Miller) Lahmon and had spent her lifetime in Knox County in Mount Vernon.

She was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Gambier for many years. She along with her brother William would volunteer for card games at the Station Break Senior Citizens Center in Mount Vernon. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Walter and Carole Sapp of Mount Vernon; daughter and son-in-law Jean and Carlton “Carty” Smith of Howard; her grandson Marty (Julie) Sapp; 3 step grandsons; 1 step granddaughter; 1 great grandson Michael Sapp, 2 step great grandsons; 2 step great granddaughters; her sister Dorothy White of Mount Vernon; and sister-in-law Susie Lahmon. Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her previous husband Robert W. Sapp, 5 brothers Earl Lahmon, Harry Lahmon, Clarence Lahmon, William Lahmon, and Ralph “Shorty” Lahmon and 4 sisters Edna Woolison, Mable Lahmon, Pearl Mills, and Isabelle Hyatt, 2 step grandsons and 1 step granddaughter.

Friends may call Wednesday July 25, 2012 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio where funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday with Pastor Robert Pelfrey officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier.
