Frances Irean “Sis” McCumber

September 24, 1933 ‒ December 10, 2017

Delaware, Ohio

Frances Irean “Sis” McClanahan Street McCumber, 84, of Delaware, OH went to be with our Lord and Savior, on Sunday evening, December 10, 2017 at the Arbors of Delaware, after a 6 year courageous battle with brain cancer.

She was born September 24, 1933 in Buchanan County, Virginia to the late Samuel Stuart McClanahan and Melvina “Vinnie” (Stiltner) McClanahan.

A resident of Centerburg, Ohio since 1945, she moved to Delaware in 1970. A hard and loyal worker, Frances retired from Ranco Manufacturing in Plain City in 1999 and was a member of the Eagles #376 Ladies Auxillary in Delaware. She enjoyed making big beautiful flower arrangements and collecting clocks.

She had a passion for the Christmas season, enjoyed decorating her home and her 3 Christmas trees and gathering all the family together. She also enjoyed playing pool and cards. She took pride in her yard and loved doing yard work, especially getting on her riding mower. When her grandkids were small, she would save a jar of pennies and let them all count and split them up between them.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dorothy “Dottie” Street (Jim) Wright of Conroe, Texas and Larry (Sandra) Street of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Donald (Pam) Morehouse of Prospect, Daniel Morehouse of Mt. Vernon, Tina (Wesley) Hobbs of Greenville, MS, Amy (Bill) Prestwood of Montgomery, TX, James (Amy) Houston of Montgomery, TX, Tina (Kenn) Stephens of Austin, TX, Marcus (Amy) Wright of Anacoco, Louisiana; numerous great grandchildren including Bradley, Jamie, Misty, Kevin, Ashley, JR, Christina, Erik, Peyton, Dani, and Timothy and numerous great-great grandchildren; many additional family, friends, coworkers and neighbors.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years Garold “Gary” McCumber, 3 sisters Belvie Stacy, June Jarrell and Alpha Webb and 2 brothers George “Buck” McClanahan and Jason McClanahan.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 5 – 8 pm at the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive (formerly 1510 W. William St.), Delaware, where funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11:00 am with Michael Gillen officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg.

The family welcomes flowers, especially plants to live on in her memory.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Victory Freewill Baptist Church, 2784 St. Rt. 229, P.O. Box 225, Marengo, OH 43334.
