Frances Gertude (Dyson) Sampson

Frances Gertrude Sampson, 89 of Delaware, Ohio, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014, at the Delaware Court Healthcare Center with loved ones by her side. She was born on August 10, 1924, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Florence and Edward Dyson.
Gertrude enjoyed working with youth and for 19 years she was a cottage leader at Scioto Village. She also worked with the youth at Delwood for five years. She did various jobs after that until her health interfered. She loved to read, solved word puzzles, cook and enjoy her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Terre L. and daughter-in-law, Roslyn Sampson of Las Vegas, Nevada, daughters Maria (Toni) Sampson and Winifred (Freddie) Bondurant both of Delaware. Grandchildren Winifred, Arnold (Cheryl), Eric, Jacquelynn, Kimberly, Patrea, Courtney, Charles (Angela) and Terre Jr. Her great-grandchildren, Marcus L., Ebony, Olivia, Ian, D’Andre, Jasmine, Marcus B., Jade, Robert, Amber, Damien, Ira, Brandon, Grace, David, and Joy. Great great-grandchildren Jalaya, Keyanna, DeAndre Jr., Jeulyis and Ah’Don. Sisters Dr. Rachel (Mae) Parmley of Florida, Margaret Story of Arkansas, sisters-in-law, Geneva Colston of Worthington and Portia Dyson of Columbus and brother, Paul Hamilton (Rohonda) of Columbus. Numerous other relatives and a host of friends including special friends: Bud Graig, Snobia Mitchell, Shirley Gooden, Ona Goff and Bobbi Carter. Of special mention are her in-laws whom she had a special closeness to; Geneva Colston, Portia Dyson and Roslyn Sampson.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Asa D. Sampson; son, William and grandson, Mark Walker. Brothers, Charles Dyson, Warren Palmer, William (Bill) Palmer, James (Jimmy) Dyson and Ervin (Mike) Colston. Sister, Esther Guy and beloved daughter-in-law, Patricia Hert.
In her life Gertrude continued to miss and has now joined her dear friends Eva Jordan, Eleanor Lindsay, Mary Jane Ross, Winnie and Raymond Ransaw, Margaret Murphy and Virgil Mitchell.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, 2:00 PM at the Outreach Christian Center, 77B London Road, Delaware, Ohio.
