Frances E. Pore

May 27, 1928 ‒ August 14, 2018

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD:  Be kind, be fair, be honest, be true and all of these things will come back to you.   Frances E. Pore knew that how you treat others matters, and for her kind ways she was equally rewarded in her life.  She was blessed with work, friends, love and family.  Her giving heart now at rest, Frances E. Pore passed away Tuesday morning August 14, 2018 in Arbors of Mifflin following a short illness.  She was 90.

She was born May 27, 1928 in Delaware, Ohio the daughter of Floyd and Charlotte (Burch) Harter and was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1946.  On July 4, 1948 she married Norman E. Pore with whom she celebrated 62 years before he preceded her in death in September of 2010.

Frances worked for over 25 years at Therm-O-Disc retiring in the early 90’s.  During retirement, she and Norman enjoyed winters together in Phoenix, Arizona and traveling to Charleston, SC to visit their son and daughter-in- law.

She was a long-time member of First English Lutheran Church.

Frances and Norman loved camping.  They enjoyed many trips with the Good Sams Camping Club and together traveled all over the country in their Seabreeze motorhome.  She loved being outdoors, enjoying a nice walk or sitting listening to the birds.  A wonderful grandma, she dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.   She and Norm were a fixture in the stands at every sporting event, even traveling all the way to Paris to watch their grandson play soccer.  As luck would have it, their 50th wedding anniversary was celebrated on that same trip.

Frances had two addictions, shopping and sweets!  She and her sister Pat enjoyed weekly shopping trips, sometimes buying the same things they had already purchased the week before.  Frances could not walk away from a desert, especially pie, often sampling each desert to assure she didn’t miss out on something special.

Soft spoken, Frances had a quiet gentle nature, but was always fair in her deliberations and generous, giving of herself to others.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law Ron and Rhonda Pore of Mansfield and Michael and Pat Pore of Mansfield; three beloved grandchildren Renee and John Neron of Mansfield, Regan Pore of Lakewood, and Ryan and Ashley Pore of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three great grandchildren Luca and Stella Pore, and Emme Neron; a sister Patricia Myers of Mansfield; a sister-in-law Nancy Pore of Ashland; along with many nieces nephews extended family and a team of wonderful caregivers.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Frances was preceded in death by two sisters Betty Newlon and Marilyn Boling.

Friends may call Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 4-7 pm in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral home where the funeral service will be held Friday at 11 am.  Pastor Jean Coleman will officiate.  Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in memory of Frances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
