Frances E. Phillips, age 94, of Mount Vernon passed away on Friday morning, February 3, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born on February 24, 1917 in Mount Vernon, daughter of the late Henry and Jesse (Bone) Sharp.

Frances was a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church near Mount Vernon, the Liberty Grange, and the Knox 148 Pythian Sisters.

Frances is survived by her sons, Harold (Carol) Phillips of Delaware, Paul (Marcella) Phillips of Fredericktown, and Herb (Linda) Phillips of Mount Gilead; daughters, Nancy Cline and Mary (Marvin) Ervin of Fredericktown, Deborah (Jeffrey) Berger of Mount Vernon, and Barbara (Mark) Bond of Mansfield; 30 grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren; and a sister, Monabelle Negus of Montana.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. Phillips; son, Roger Phillips; daughter, Rachel Garber; sisters, Elinor Sharp and Maxine Harbarge; and a step brother, Harmon Straley.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Green Valley United Methodist Church, 9288 Green Valley Rd., Mount Vernon. Burial will follow in the Green Valley Cemetery.
