Frances A. “Toots” Wilson

Frances A. Wilson “Toots”, age 92, a lifelong resident of Delaware, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, October 21, 2013 at Grady Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 2, 1921, in Delaware, to the late John A. and Bessie (Brown) Crawford. A 1939 graduate of Willis High School, Toots went on to marry the love of her life, John W. Wilson, Sr. on June 18, 1941. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2004. She was a former member of Zion AME Church and a cook at Ohio Wesleyan for more than 20 years. Prior to being a cook, Toots was a dorm room supervisor at Scioto Village as well as a hairdresser.
In her earlier years, she enjoyed fishing and bowling in the city league. She also had a penchant for slot machines and gambling up into her later years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, John Willard “Jack” Wilson, Jr. and Richard “Rick” (Patsie) Wilson, all of Delaware; grandchildren, Stephanie Wilson, Amy Van Horn and Christine Deel; great-grandchildren, C.J., Jakob, Scott and Casen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Toots was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Harold and Donald Crawford and two sisters, Margaret Dixon and Doretha H. Tidline.
Friends may call Friday, October 25, 2013 from 11-1 pm at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street, Delaware where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with the Reverend Madonna Gray presiding. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Arbors at Delaware for the loving care and compassion shown to Toots in her final years.
