Frank O. “Whitey” Wilson, age 82, of Mount Vernon, died Thursday November 7, 2002 at the Inn at Hillen Vale in Mount Vernon. Frank was born April 29, 1920 in Warsaw to William and Marie (Seas) Wilson. He was an Army veteran of World War Two when he served in the European Theater of War. Frank had been employed for 28 years by Cooper Energy Services in Mount Vernon and he retired from the Mount Vernon City Schools.

He was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, Mount Zion Lodge #9 F&AM, Valley of Columbus Scottish Rite and Aladdin Shrine in Columbus. He was a life member of the VFW and AMVETS both in Mount Vernon.

Surviving are his wife Frances (Braden) Wilson whom he married Nov 2, 1940; four daughters Linda L. (David) Brown of Howard, Diana D. (Daniel) Lorey of Cullowhee, North Carolina, Judy Hatfield of Mansfield and Nancy Marie (Arthur Winne) Wilson-Winne of Dubuque, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and his half sister Leta (Don) Pealer. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 3 sisters Ruth VanHouten, Hazel Wilson and Mary Curavo, 2 brothers Byron Wilson and Wilbur Wilson, a half brother Charles Beeman and a half sister Eileen Smith .

Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where funeral services will be held Monday at 1 PM with Rev. Dr. David Baker officiating. The Knox County Joint Veterans Council will provide military honors at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens.
