Floyd Benson “Ben” Wilson, 94, of Delaware passed away at Grady Memorial Hospital on Wednesday March 18, 2015.

He was born May 19, 1920 in Delaware to the late John and Lena (Brandy) Wilson. He attended South School and Willis High School.

Ben was employed at Dennison Apex and following retirement, he worked at the Delaware County Fairgrounds during fair week. Ben was a member of the Zion AME Church and he was a very outgoing person who never met a stranger. He would begin a conversation with anyone, anytime and anywhere. He enjoyed driving the streets of Delaware during inclement weather to see if anyone on the road needed assistance. He also loved spending time with family and especially looked forward to the annual Wilson Reunion. When able, he enjoyed traveling to Springfield, Detroit and California to visit family.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 74 years Ruth (Craig) Wilson; sons Larry F. (Revella) Wilson of Delaware, Benson C. (Patricia) Wilson of Columbus and Jerry Bridges of Delaware; granddaughters Camille (James) Craig, Ellen Wilson, Karen (Brian) Brown and Pamela (Ralph) Smithers and a grandson Derek Wilson; fourteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Donna (Wilson) Prude and his siblings John “Buck”, Brandy, Tom, Paul, Alice “Peachy”, Helen and Martha.

A service celebrating the life of Ben will be held on Saturday March 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street, Delaware. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
