MANSFIELD: Florence “Dee” Dean Uhles, 68, died Tuesday, February 27, 2007 in her home following a sudden illness.

Florence was born December 1, 1938 in Centralia, Illinois, the only child of G. L. and Lucille V. Boswell McDowell, and was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1956.

After attending Bowling Green State University, she moved to Chicago. She then returned to Mansfield where she married her beloved husband Chester A. Uhles. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1987. She leaves behind her best friend and companion, her cat Maggie

Florence was an avid gardener and was past president of Kingwood Herb Society. Never one to be idle, she volunteered at Oakhill Cottage, Mansfield Art Center and The Renaissance Theater. She also tutored at Hedges Elementary School. She was a member of the Richland County Board of Elections and the “Jump for Joy” Red Hat Society.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at 2:30 pm in Mansfield Memorial Park. A celebration of life honoring Florence will be held at the Mansfield Art Center, 700 Marion Avenue Road at 3:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Mansfield Art Center or the Richland County Humane Society are preferred.

The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
