Flora W. Smith Ransaw Johnson, 93, of High Street, Delaware, Ohio died Tuesday, January 22, 2002 in Grady Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Finneyside, Virginia on March 6, 1908, the daughter of the late Nelson and Eunice Combs Smith. She worked as a youth leader and volunteer foster grandparent for Scioto Village. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church. Flora enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by four sons and a daughter-in-law Raymond & Winifred Ransaw, Cartel “Bummy” Ransaw, David E. Ransaw, and Charles Smith all of Delaware, OH; three daughters Mary L. Wilson, Eunice M. Willis, and Norma Brodnax all of Delaware, OH; 22 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and a brother Samuel Flemming of Atlanta, GA.

Her husbands Cartel “Jack” Ransaw and Thomas “Tee” Johnson preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law Nathan Wilson Sr. and James Willis, five brothers Reese, Robert, Glenn, Orville and Gaines, and three sisters Sophia, Florence and Elizabeth.

Friends may call at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street, Delaware on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Rev. Lamont Coates will officiate funeral services in the Second Baptist Church on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
