Flora H. Walker died March 23, 2007 in Sunbury, Ohio after a prolonged illness. Born Flora Hager, August 8, 1916 in Hensley, WV to the late Edward and Sarah (Blankenship) Hager.
Married at the age of eighteen to Memory Walker. Flora and Memory had six children together. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and the simple pleasures of life on a farm; but she especially loved to travel and see new places. Flora and Memory spent most of their married life on farms in Iaeger, WV and Huff Creek, WV. She recently lived for several years in Camp Creek, WV and she has lived in Sunbury Ohio for the past year. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Memory Walker; her sisters Opal Snuffer, Florence Sanders, Jeane Rasnick, and Yvonne Turpin; her brother Tillman Hager; her sons Memory Walker Jr., and Wayne Walker; and her son-in-law Albert Beachy.
She is survived by her sisters Kathryn Vance (husband Eugene) of Princeton, WV; Norma Bailey of Seffner, FL; her brother Robert Hager (wife Irene) of Austinville, VA; her daughters Faye Maynard of Sunbury, OH; Reba Beachy of Hartville, OH; and Pat Thornsbury of Camp Creek, WV; and her son Marvin “Bob” Walker (wife Barbara) of Aurora, OH.
The loves of her life were her grandchildren: Mitchell Maynard (wife Christine), Michelle Neff, John Maynard (wife Kelly), Lori Moran (husband Rick), Bobbi Schulz (husband Tim), Greg Beachy (wife Judy), Timothy Beachy (wife Heather), Michael Thornsbury, Kerry Thornsbury (wife Angie) – and her great grandchildren: Sarah, Lisa & Ricky, Katie, Ryan, Molly, John Michael, Hannah, Sarah & Laura, Brennan, Ashley & Allison, and Danielle.
Friends may call Monday, March 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Devore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, Ohio. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 27 in the Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, WV at 3 p.m.
