Fern S. Charlton, age 97, of Beech St., Mt. Vernon, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2005 at the Country Court Nursing Home. She was born on November 16, 1907, in Morrow County, to the late John and Emma (Heyde) Huvler. Mrs. Charlton was employed at Shalmar in Mt. Vernon and at Westinghouse in Mansfield. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she participated in the Friendship Sunday School Class, Prime Timers Senior Citizens. Mrs. Charlton was raised, since she was 10 years old, by her late foster parents, Orlando and Emma Temple.
She is survived by her two loving daughters; Nancy (Ronald) Dunn of Mt. Vernon, Ruth Ann (David) Blazer of Lenoir City, TN, six grandchildren; Robert Dunn, Larry (Sherrie) Dunn, Dale (Jessica) Dunn, Mark Blazer, Terri (Scott) Denzien, Leah (Michael) Combs, seven great grandchildren; Robyn (Tim) Patrick, Adam, Logan, Abbie, Leanna, Luke, and Cora Dunn, two great-great grandchildren Victoria and Jonah Patrick and a special friend, Carolyn (Wesley) Looker. Mrs. Charlton was preceded in death by her first husband Lee Charlton, second husband Ralph Charlton, six brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call on Sunday, February 20, 2005 from 1-4PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. A service will be held on Monday, beginning at 10:30 at the First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Paul Merki officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
