Faye C. Willeke

February 28, 1933 ‒ August 29, 2018

Mount Gilead, Ohio

Faye C. Willeke, age 85, of Mount Gilead, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, August 29, 2018, at Woodside Village Care Center.

Born on February 28, 1933, in Warren, OH, Faye was the only child of the late J. Don and Edna (Patton) Campbell. Faye graduated from Warren G. Harding High School and went on to Dennison University before completing her pharmacy program at the Ohio State University.

While at OSU, Faye met a young man while working over a bunsen burner. You can say it was a “hot” romance. On September 10, 1955, she married that young man, Robert C. Willeke at the Warren Christ Episcopal Church.

Faye worked at the Morrow County Hospital from 1970 to 1996. After her retirement she decided to stay busy and became the Clerk/Treasurer of the Library of which she held that position for over 10 years.

Over the years Faye was active in many facets of the community. She was a member of the Alpha TWIG at the Hospital, served on the Cancer Board, organized Blood Donors, and was active with Meals on Wheels. While at Trinity UMC she served as treasurer for 20 years. Faye also served at TUMC as Sunday School Teacher, Sunday Secretary, and sat on various committees.

Faye loved to read. She often read a couple of books a week, mostly nonfiction. She enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and riding her bicycle. She often visited the Elderhostel Trails where she rode her bicycle. Faye and Bob loved spending time together and some of their favorite memories are of their trips to Europe, China, and Alaska.

She will be dearly missed by her husband Bob; children: David (Alice) Willeke of Lexington, Sue (Paul Jr.) Middaugh of Phoenix, AZ, and Mark Willeke of Lexington; and grandchildren: Meghan, Mitchell, Mason, Danielle, Katelynn, and Nicholas.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Janet Willeke.

Her family will greet friends from 9:30 AM to 11 AM, on Monday, September 10, 2018, at the Trinity United Methodist Church. A service will follow at 11 AM there with Pastor Jeff Canankamp officiating. Burial of her ashes at Rivercliff Cemetery will be held privately with her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity and/or to Trinity United Methodist Church.
