Evelyn Louise Barr

BELLVILLE: Evelyn Louise Barr, 84, of Markey Street, Bellville, died Sunday morning May 29, 2005 in Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville, following a long illness.
She was born October 12, 1920 in Mansfield to Roy E. and Hilda (Smith) Butler, was graduated valedictorian from Madison High School in 1938, and attended Mansfield Business College.
A homemaker, Evelyn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bellville, and Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
An avid gardener, she was a transplanted city-girl, who embraced life on their Mill Run Road farm, fawning over new lambs and calves, and really all the animals.
Evelyn enjoyed sewing, reading and writing short stories ~ and was delighted to see one of her stories published.
Not known for mincing words, her strength and guidance, tempered with devotion and love, have been pillars of counsel and direction for her family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Luanne and Larry Dill of Bellville; four sons and daughters-in-law Raymond, Jr. and Sharon Barr of Minster, Thomas R. and Nancy Barr and Phillip A. and Kay Barr all of Bellville and John A. and Linda Barr of Jeromesville; nine grandchildren and their spouses Leigh and Dustin Wade, Lance Dill, Jeffrey and Kristina Barr, Matthew Barr, Sherri Brokaw, Thomas R., Jr. and Becky Barr, Kerri and Jeff Gottfried, Chris Barr and Brent Barr; two step grandchildren Troy Heichel and Melanie Heichel; eight great grandchildren Nikki Traxler, Josh Brokaw, Tom “Buck” Barr, Cammy Barr, Darian Gottfried, Hallie Gottfried, Sydney Wade and Bailey Wade; and a sister Dorothy Shaffer of Mansfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond E. Barr, Sr. on August 9, 1991.
The family will receive friends today, Tuesday, May 31, 2005 from 5-8 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. The worship service, giving Glory to God for the life of Evelyn Barr, will be held Wednesday at 11 am in St. Paul Lutheran Church,48 Church Street, Bellville. The Rev. Douglas J. Pretorius will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Memory Unit of Colonial Manor may be made at the funeral home.
