MANSFIELD~ Evelyn L. Prosser Marshman, formerly of Glendale Boulevard, Mansfield. Former state officer with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, passed away Friday morning February 13, 2009 at The Gables of Marysville, her home for the past year and a half. She was 88.

Evelyn was born November 6, 1920 in Lexington to Frank and Edith (Dickson) Prosser, she was a graduate of Lexington High School, class of 1938.

A member of First English Lutheran Church, Mansfield, she was also a member of Mansfield Moose Lodge. Evelyn was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post # 3494 on Ashland Road where she held several offices, and the Auxiliary of McVey Post #16 American Legion.

Evelyn was retired from the Westinghouse Company, where she loyally worked on the production line.

She used her sewing and craft skills to make gifts for nursing home residents, and so enjoyed being able to work in her garden.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Janet & Gary Hitchcock of Columbus; five grandchildren Kelly (Steve) Ray, Kipp (Cheryl) Hitchcock, Doug (Carol) Marshman, David (Stephanie) Marshman, Christy (Mark) Collins; many great grandchildren Kris Carrocci, Ben (Kristi) Carrocci, Chantee (Michael) Bartoe, Amanda (James) Irvin; a sister June Carpenter of Mansfield; several great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband Rupert R. Marshman preceded her in death in 1966, and her son David J. Marshman in 1982. Also deceased are her brothers Lloyd Prosser and Kenneth Prosser.

The Marshman Family will receive friends Sunday, February 15, 2009 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Pastor Aaron Rose will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
