Evelyn Argenia Williams, age 90, of Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Brookdale Mount Vernon.

She was born on March 19, 1926 in Mount Vernon to the late Melvin S. and Ruth (Sentel) Shira. Argenia was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School, class of 1944. She was employed at Cooper Bessmer, Rudins and also Edmont-Wilson.

Argenia is survived by her son Michael (Cynthia) Williams; her daughter Dixie (Michael) McClain; four grandchildren, Christine (Bob) McCreary, Matthew Williams, Heather (Jason) Dickerson, Jessica (Jerrod) Davis; eight great-grandchildren; her dear friend Bev Riggs; and several nieces and her nephew.

In additions to her parents, Argenia was preceded in death by her husband George “Gunner” Williams; two brothers, Melvin L. Shira, Kenneth Shira; and her nephew Bobby Shira.

Friends may call on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 12-1PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will follow beginning at 1PM with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating. Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
