Eva Lenore Jordan

Eva Lenore Jordan, age 94 of Delaware, passed away Monday morning at her home following an extended illness. She was born November 26, 1912 in Kenokee, WV to Thomas and Hattie (nee Wilson) Nelson. She earned a certificate of nursing in 1959 and retired from Scioto Village (GIS) as a house supervisor. She was a very active member of Morning Star Tabernacle, where she sang in the choir and held many church offices including usher, Sunday School teacher, and Vice President of the Missionary Society. She is survived by 4 sons Charles Wesley, Fostein, and Steve Jordan, all of Delaware, and Julius Jordan of Cleveland; 5 daughters Revella Wilson, Marcella Hodge, Levita Morgan, Florine Gray, and Damita Elbannai, all of Delaware; a granddaughter Kim Morgan of Columbus, whom she raised as her daughter; and over 106 grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Alpheaus in 1989, daughters Paristine Steele in 1985 and Thornita Payne in 2006, son Alpheaus Jordan Jr. in 1959, her parents, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 15th from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM and from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Morning Star Tabernacle, 89 Eaton St., Delaware where funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM with Elder Wesley A. Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to Al-Eva’s Learning Center, founded in the name of Alpheaus and Eva Jordan to promote literacy within the community, at P.O. Box 723, Delaware, OH 43015. Al-Eva’s was founded in 1997 and is a 501C-3 and United Way organization. Arrangements were entrusted to Rodman Neeper Funeral Home.
