January 24, 1923 ‒ July 06, 2008
MANSFIELD: Eunice Anderson, 85, of Mansfield, died Sunday, July 6, 2008 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a sudden illness.
She was born January 24, 1923 to E.C. and Gracie (Weikel) Matney and moved to Richland County as a child.
On June 28, 1957 she married Carl “Bud” Anderson, who preceded her in death on August 30, 2002.
Eunice worked for Dominion Electric as an inspector for over 26 years, and Hartman Electric where she worked as an assembler, retiring in 1986 with 13 years of service.
She enjoyed traveling out west on vacation trips with her husband, and was delighted to watch her birds in the feeder she kept for them out back. Eunice also loved to be outside working happily in her flower gardens.
Eunice had an eye for fine things and loved collecting items she held dear such as her doll collection, Fenton glass, and Longaberger baskets. She also loved watching QVC where she could shop for jewelry and gifts right from her very own home.
Eunice attended Crossroads Community Church. A spiritual woman, she set her alarm early every Sunday so she could watch Joel Osteen on television. She also enjoyed reading his books.
Eunice put God her father first, and her family second. She truly cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. Always thought of as kind and generous, Eunice believed that the good done for others would come back to her.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Ruth Ann and Stephen Bowden of Mansfield, a son and daughter-in-law Richard “Dick” and Rosa Hatfield of Mansfield; four grandchildren and their spouses Kim and Phil Mendiola of Orrville, Brian Herman of Mansfield, Stephanie and Chad Kitts of Mansfield, and Abby and Troy Schlereth of Mansfield; eight great grandchildren Rachel Heflen, Thomas, Matthew and Sarah Mendiola, Chrystal Risser, Chadie Kitts, Molly and Cory Rhea, and Chad Schlereth; one great great grandson Bane Rhea; a sister Viola Ruhl of Lexington, a sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Tom Woodard, a brother and sister-in-law Robert and Lou Matney all of Mansfield, and several nieces and nephews.
