Eula “Big” Lamie Rhea

BELLVILLE: Eula “Big” Lamie Rhea passed away on October 2, 2019 after a long illness.  She was well loved by family and friends alike.

Born in Saltville, Virginia on November 28, 1934 to a large family, she grew up in a hard time, which made her frugal.  She met and married another Saltville resident, Roy L. Rhea.  They moved to Ohio for work, and lived the remainder of their years there.  She loved kids and was like a mom to many who came through her door.  She will be missed by many.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Allie Graham Lamie, Sr. and Mary Etta Branson Lamie.  Her husband left her behind when he passed in 2006.  She was also preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters; Mae Lewis Lamie, Kathleen “Kat” Gates, Ruby Lazelle Bailey, infant baby, Eleanor Christine “Crick” Fabinski, Allie Lamie Jr., twin sons, Bonnie Elmer Harris, Wanoka Luvonne “Oakie” Sword, special twin sister Trula “Little Sis” Price, John L. Lamie, James Alvis “Dopey” Lamie, Thomas Lamie, and some many nieces, and nephews.

She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Melodie) Rhea, daughter Patricia L. Robinson, adopted daughter/granddaughter Jody L. Ritchie, granddaughter Lacy C. (Teddy Hite) Rhea, grandson Norman L. (Michele) Reed, adopted granddaughter/great granddaughter Alyssa E. Ritchie, great grandson A.J. Reed, great granddaughter Trinity Reed and special sister-in-law Kathrine “Sissy Dean” Lamie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends Monday, October 7, 2019 from 11am – 1pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 1pm.  Chaplain Dallas Waggle will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.

  • So many great memories I’ll forever cherish with her and Roy. She will be missed so much by so many youngins that she treated like we were one of her grandkids. Jodi was a lucky girl to have such great, loving awesome grandparents like them. They would give there shirts off there backs if you needed it. Great great people. I’ll always keep you in my heart and mind Big. I’ll miss you so much.

    • So much of my childhood memories include Roy and big…they were truly amazing people and now they are back together.

  • Prayers to aunt Big’s family. She isn’t in pain anymore and she isn’t alone in Heaven. I’m sure she was welcomed with open arms.

  • The last of my Dad’s siblings to pass. A family of 10, we lost Thomas Theodore “Tink” Lamie last year and he still called Eula on a regular basis to check on her. I’m deeply saddened they have all passed away but elated they are with God in Heaven and at Peace 💖

She will always be with you and never forget that you have been there to take care of her over the last few years , the same way she was there to take care of you when you needed her most!!!   • Eula was my Mom, Roy was my Dad. I miss Dad , & now I miss Mom. I guess we are all orphaned when we get to a certain age. But I won’t forget them, for they are not dead if they live on in your heart.
