Eugene P. Lemke

Eugene P. Lemke passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 in Ashland Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 83.
He was born September 21, 1935 in Hutchinson, Minnesota to parents William & Martha (Miller) Lemke. After he graduated from Hutchinson High School with the class of 1954, he proudly served his country by joining the US Army, during the Korean War.
Eugene worked in construction in Alaska for 35 years, which included the Alaskan Pipeline from 1975 to 1978, until retiring in 1999 from Crowley Marine Service in Nome, Alaska. He also worked for a short time in Israel from 1978 to 1982 on a military base construction project.
He was a lifetime member of the Perryville VFW Post 8586 and commander in 2002, also a member of the Loudonville American Legion Post 257, the AMVETS in Haysville, and 40 et 8 Veterans Organization.
He is survived by his children Cheryl Clark, David Lemke, Thomas (Mary) Lemke, and Blayn Lemke; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Lorraine Lemke.
In addition to his wife LaDonna (Harris) Lemke in 2006, Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Melvin and Wallace Lemke, and an infant sister.
Celebration of life service with military honors provided by the Perrysville VFW and Loudonville American Legion in Eugene’s honor will take place Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 4 p.m. at the Perrysville VFW Pavilion, 2802 Co Rd 917, Perrysville, Ohio.
