Ettafae Salyer

Ettafae Salyer, 77, of Johnstown went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday morning, November 11, 2016. She was a wonderful and precious mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend born January 3, 1939 in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Elza and Rena (Holliday) Ball.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Salyer; her brothers, Ellis Ball, Edison Ball, Paul Ball, Ronnie Ball and Larry Ball; her sisters, Elenora Ball, Jannet Rarey and Minnie Lou Bourgeois; a special son-in-law, Damian Simon; sister-in-law, Pauline Ball; and a niece, Monica Long.

Ettafae is survived by her children, Rena (Ken) Hughes, Jess (Debbie) Salyer, Rita (Victor) Ray and Rhonda Simon; brothers, Johnnie (Zeny) Ball, Odell Ball and  Harold (Penny) Ball; a sister, Carol (Charles) McClary; sisters-in-law, Alma Ball and Carol Ball; a niece she raised like her own child, Danielle (Jon) Schwartz; and many other special nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ettafae devoted her life to God and her family, always caring for others.  She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Mount Vernon.  Her most cherished moments were spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored.  Some of her enjoyable past times was reading her bible, working in her flower gardens, and sitting in her garage watching the hummingbirds while visiting with family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service celebrating the life of Ettafae at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Apostolic Christian Church, 1635 Old Delaware Rd, Mount Vernon with Bishop Duane Kramer and Pastor L.J. Harry officiating.  Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Johnstown.

    What a wonderful person she was. I got to know her during her visits to the Oncology office at Licking Memorial. She was always so positive about life, and always eager to smile and chat with other patients.

    I miss her as I know all of you will.
