Ethel Margaret Allen-Van Schoyck 85 of Sunbury died Monday, September 28, 2009 at her daughter Debra’s home in Mount Vernon surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 27, 1923 in Shakopee, MN to the late William M. and Margaret (Hirscher) Allen.

Proceeded in death by her husband of 55 years: John Thomas Van Schoyck, daughter Nancy Kay Van Schoyck-Deinzer, son Michael John Van Schoyck, and brother William Allen.

A devout member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church of Sunbury, where she served on council for many years, and was a member of the Women’s Club, Craft Club, and Garden Club. She was also a member of Worthington Senior Center. She loved animals and was a founding member of the Cat Welfare in Columbus.

Survived by daughters: Debra Jo Van Schoyck-Gerber (Fred Gerber) of Mount Vernon, Sharon Garner of Lewis Center, son James Thomas Van Schoyck (Manon) of Johnstown, daughter-in-law Ginny Van Schoyck of Columbus, Grandchildren: Angellyne and Matt Manley, Katelyn and Colton Gerber, Christine Garner, Vickey and Tom Van Schoyck, Tara Hutson, Fallon Van Schoyck, Great-grandchildren: Tristan Manley, Brittney, Brandy, and A.J. Finley, Heather and Brittany Periman, Friends Sr Julie Ostroske, Gerianne Morrison, Ed and Judy Dick. A special thank you to Hospice of Central Ohio.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. with prayer services 7:30 at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday 11 a.m. at St. John Neumann Church, 9633 SR 37, Sunbury, Father David Sizemore Celebrant, entombment in Resurrection Cemetery.
