Ethel M. Jones, 71, currently of New Paris, OH, where she resided with her son, Steve, and formerly of Delaware and Minerva, OH, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009 in the Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana, following a battle with cancer.
She was born on October 15, 1937 in Glenwood, North Carolina to the late Arvie and Martha (Johnson) Cook. She had been a bookkeeper for Wilmer’s Electrical Supply Company in Delaware. She was a member of Delaware Grace Brethren Church, where in earlier years, she was active in the food ministry. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and especially the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her four children that she raised in Delaware; son- Steve (Penny) Hollifield of New Paris, Doug (Phyllis) Hollifield and Debbie (Lynn) Askins, both of Delaware and Cathy Hawkins of Lewisville; 7 grandchildren- Misty Roule, Matthew Hawkins, Stephanie Askins, Stacie Askins, Trevor Askins, Alex Hollifield and Jason Hollifield; 3 great grandchildren- Kayla, Jacob and Madison; 2 brothers- Archie (Dolly) Cook and Max Cook; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband- Rev. Richard Jones, with whom she spent 10 years living in Minerva; and 3 brothers- Donald, Billy and Floyd Cook.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 from 6-8 p.m., and then again on Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., in the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 West William Street, Delaware, with the Rev. Darrell Anderson, Pastor, of Delaware Grace Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Delaware.
