Esther M. Hamman

Esther M. Hamman, age 76 of Delaware died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 following an illness with lung cancer.
She was born on May 20, 1932 in New Washington the eleventh child of the late Philip and Edna Stutzman Maul. A 1950 graduate of New Washington High School and a 1953 graduate of Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing, she had worked at People’s Hospital, Mansfield General Hospital, and Richland New Hope Center.
A Delaware resident since 1994, she was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and their Third Tuesday Senior Club. An active member of Senior Citizens of Delaware, Inc., where she was a charter member of the Warm Water Exercise Program and participated in P.A.C.E., Red Hats, and the various Senior Center trips. Esther was also a member of the Delaware District Library, who provided her with weekly new additions to read. Her other interests included gardening and family genealogy.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 1/2 years: Carl, whom she married Sept. 24, 1955, daughter, Emily (Jon) Binder of Overland Park, KS, sons: Bryan (Lynette) of Greenwich, and Eric (Gale) of Moorpark, CA, 7 grandchildren: Sarah, and Hannah of Greenwich, Jackie and Andrew of Overland Park, Margot and Emmett of Moorpark., Rachel (Jacob) Bush of Mt. Vernon, sisters: Neva (Ivan) Shealy of Bucyrus, Phyllis Maul of New Port Richey, FL, and Janice Aumend of Shelby, Brother-in-law: Frank Till of Shelby.
Preceded in death by 2 sisters: Mildred (Edgar) Caldwell formerly of Royal Oak, MI, Jean Till formerly of Shelby, 5 brothers: Ellsworth (Lucille) Maul formerly of Tampa FL, Gerald (Treva) Maul formerly of Piqua, Wayne and Karl Maul formerly of New Washington, and Halden Maul formerly of Mansfield.
Esther’s lifetime joy was as a wife, mother of three wonderful children who married three wonderful spouses, who gave her seven wonderful grandchildren.
Friends may call Monday 5 – 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR36), Delaware, where services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Bruce Quatman officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery,10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, Ohio on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
