Esther A. Kading, 91, of Mount Vernon, Ohio formerly of Algona, Iowa passed away on Saturday morning, August 23, 2008 at the Summerville at HillenVale in Mount Vernon. She was born on August 20, 1917, to the late Louis and Lena (Hagedorn) Junkermeier in Ledyard, Iowa.

She graduated from Ledyard High School, where during her senior year, she was a member of the basketball team that went to the State Championship.

She married William Kading, who preceded her in death in 1979 and they farmed in Lotts Creek, Iowa for several years. After retirement they moved to Algona. Esther worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Four years ago, she moved to Mount Vernon.

She is survived by a daughter, Judith K. Marlow and five grandchildren, Julie (Steve) Davis, Jesse (Jane) Marlow, Jack (April) Marlow, Allen (Lisa) Marlow, David Marlow and eleven great grandchildren. Also, surviving are a sister, Agnes Arend, sisters-in-law, Hilda Person, Lydia Junkermeier, Arlene Junkermeier; a brother-in-law, Melvin Logeman; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Bonnie Bell

Esther’s brothers and sisters who preceded her in death were Elmer, Marvin, and Ervin “Bud” Junkermeier, Laura Junkermeier and Deloris Owen. Also, Esther’s son-in-law, Leon Marlow preceded her in death.

Esther was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 5, 2008 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Wilson-Lentz Funeral Home, 403 East McGregor St., Algona, Iowa with Rev. Steven Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park in Algona.

The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the local arrangements.
