Ernestine E. Coutts, age 89 of Delaware died Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Wintersong Care Center of a broken heart following the recent death of her husband.

She was born on June 25, 1920 in Kalkaska, Michigan to the late Ernest and Catherine (Yoder) Little. She moved to Delaware in 1969 from California.

She was the devoted sole mate and companion to her husband of 66 years: Dewey R. Coutts. Together they shared a passion for square dancing and were charter members of several clubs and danced in national conventions all over the United States. Dewey recently preceded her in death on June 20, 2009.

Ernestine owned and operated the former Town & Country Poodle Grooming for over 30 years. She was happiest tending to the needs of her family. She enjoyed an interesting life, active in Scouts, was a member of the OSU Rebounders Club for 24 years, and a member of the former Stratford St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

A woman of integrity and at time feisty, she was the constant care giver, wife, and mother.

She is survived by children: Jim (Phyllis) of Zanesville, Diana Coutts of Delaware, Rick of Marysville, and Michael of Delaware, 7 Grandchildren: Liana Coutts (Shanna Nolan), Donavon (Ethel) Coutts, Michael (Rhonda) Justice, Chad L. (Renee) Coutts, Rick Coutts Jr., Michelle (Kevin) Wolfe, Jade Catherine Coutts, and 14 Great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brother Gilbert Metzger and sister Dorothy Weldon.

Friends may call one hour prior to the Monday 1:00 p.m. funeral services at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware, with Rev. Donnie Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
