LEXINGTON: Eric Shawn Lakey, 20, of Mill Run Road, Lexington, died Friday morning February 17, 2006 in his home.
He was born January 6, 1986 in Mansfield and attended Lexington and Northmor Schools. While a student at Pioneer Career & Technology Center, he studied small engine repair.
A lifelong area resident, Eric had most recently worked with Integrated Building Service as a mason tender.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Eric enjoyed tearing out a car or truck engine, repairing it and putting it all back together.
Characterized as compassionate and full of love, Eric “…had a big heart and was always there for others.”
He is survived by his mother and stepfather Mary K. Lakey Bishop and Geoffrey Bishop of Mount Gilead; his father and stepmother Daniel E. and Lynn Lakey of Lexington; his girlfriend Kristina Deschner of Mansfield; brothers and sisters and their spouses Daniel Lakey, Jr. of Mansfield, Charles Lakey of Elyria, Patricia Enyart Duda and Joseph Duda of Mansfield, and Adam Lakey of Lexington; a nephew Skyler Lakey; step brothers; a step sister; aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Marvin and Mabel Huvler, paternal grandparents Charles and Daisy Tuttle, and an uncle Roger Tuttle.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 20, 2006 from 4:30 to 8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 am. Pastor Dwight Stryker will officiate. Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
