Emma L. Mahan

Emma L. Mahan, 61 of Marengo, died Thursday November 12, 2009 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus after a brief illness.
She was born on April 14, 1948 in Vanceburg, KY to the late James and Goldie (Barrett) Lewis. She was a 1967 graduate of Highland High School and attended Advent Christian Church.
Emma loved her family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening especially flowers, all kinds of music, trying new recipes on her family, swimming and vacations at the ocean and in the mountains. Some of her favorite places for vacation were Ocean City, Myrtle Beach, Gatlinburg and Disney World.
Some of her special times were the birth of her children, grandchildren and the first time she saw the ocean.
She is survived by her husband: Robert Mahan and they were married May 6, 1966 in Sparta; daughters: Mary (Allen) Bach of Wadsworth, Katie (Mark) Staiger of Marion; grandchildren: Joshua Mahan, Michael and Sarah Bach, Hayden Staiger. Brother: Jackie (Freda) Lewis of Vanceburg, KY; sisters: Edna (Bertram) Rayburn of Laurel, IN, Carolyn (Odist) Riley of Vanceburg, KY, Betty (Raymond) Gilliam of Vanceburg, KY, Rose (James) Muncie of Croton, Wanda Hetrick of Port St. Lucie, Fl.
Emma was preceded in death by her son Brian Mahan on April 21, 1996; brothers, J. Vinson Lewis, Bertram Lewis; sister, Mildred Hamilton.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. with interment to follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
