Emma Jean Penix-Puckett, age 91 of Marion, passed away Saturday August 4, 2018 at Marion General Hospital.

Emma was born on October 26, 1926 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of Albert Landon and Nora Alice (Hensley) Williams. The family moved to Salyersville, KY where Emma graduated from high school.

On May 22, 1943 she was united in marriage to John Marvin Penix, they shared 42 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on May 3, 1985. Emma later married Miles Puckett who also preceded her in death on June 9, 1999.

Emma was a devoted homemaker to her husband and two boys. She loved to cook and was a meticulous housekeeper. She loved all animals and delighted in feeding any and all that she could find. She and her husband owned and operated their own restaurant in Salyersville. She obtained her realtors license and was an agent for many years in Logan County, OH. Emma always enjoyed being able to attended the Baptist Church in Salyersville.

She is survived by her son, Dan (Judy) Penix; grandchildren: John (Mary) Penix, Kim Jesson, Brenda (Bill) Duff and Amanda (Andy) Darling; great grandchildren: Adri, Josie and Genie Penix, Wyatt, Alexis and Garrett Jesson, Jim Crum, Talon Cupp, Tyler Mowery and Drew Darling; 1 great great grandchild, her sister Ola Mae Conley; sister-in-law Helen Williams and her very special nieces Orene (Larry) Miller and Darlene (Pete) Kirby.

Emma is preceded in death by her parents; husbands: John Marvin Penix and Miles Puckett; son Bill Penix; siblings: Irene Penix, Eunice Salyers, Lacy Williams, Edgar Williams, Clayton Williams, Helen Williams and James Williams.

Visitation will be Friday, August 10, 2018 at Claridon United Methodist Church, 4834 Marion Mount Gilead Rd. (ST RT 95), Marion from 10AM to 11AM funeral service will follow at 11AM with Pastor Terry Burkhardt officiating; Funeral services will also be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Magoffin County Funeral Home, 817 Parkway Dr, Salyersville, KY 41465 at 11AM , friends may call on the family from 10AM until time of service, Pastor Doug Dunn will be officiating; burial will be in Tackett Cemetery.
