Elsie M. Mowry

BELLVILLE: Elsie M. Mowry, age 81, of 52 Rhinehart Road, Bellville, died Wednesday morning June 13, 2001 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a short illness.
Now at home with her personal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, she was born October 20, 1919 on her family’s Vanderbilt Road farm near Lexington to Rolla & Mae Swigart Armstrong, was graduated from Lexington High School in 1938, and had been a lifelong Richland County resident.
A homemaker, Elsie was raised in the Lexington Church of Christ and had been a member of New Life Church of Christ in Bellville for more than 60 years, where she taught Sunday school and served on numerous committees.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth Mowry, whom she married December 10, 1938; a daughter and son-in-law Gwen & Ken Kurtz of Bellville; three sons and daughters-in-law James & Pam Mowry and Dale & Cora Mowry all of Bellville and Larry & Dottie Mowry of Mansfield; 10 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law Florence & Richard Jensen of Mansfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law Ken & Jean Armstrong and Marlin & Marge Armstrong all of Fredericktown; and a sister-in-law Vivian Armstrong of Lexington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters Ruby Garber and Bertha Ridenour; and two brothers Leland Armstrong and Emery Armstrong.
Friends may call Friday June 15, 2001 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the LEXINGTON AVENUE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 am in New Life Church of Christ, 195 West Durbin Street, Bellville, with Evangelist Eddie Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
