Elsa McLoughlin

June 18, 1930 ‒ July 16, 2021

Delaware, Ohio

Elsa (Bruestle) McLoughlin, 91, found her eternal rest on Friday, July 16, 2021.  Her loving husband of 72 years, Robert, was at her side when she passed peacefully. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Ewald and Frida Bruestle and her step-mother, Dina Bruestle. Elsa is survived by her sister, Charlotte Yaw, 92, sons Bruce (Barb), Tom (Mary) and daughter, Tracey Nesemeier.  She also has six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elsa lived an amazing life. Her love of travel took her around the world with Robert to every continent except Antarctica.  She was an avid skier and loved to play tennis and bridge.  An accomplished hostess, Elsa found great joy entertaining and cooking excellent meals for her family and friends. Having raised her children in Columbus, Elsa and Robert moved to Sun City West, Arizona in 1981, where they lived for thirty years.  She loved Arizona and was very involved in her community, volunteering at the local hospital and often in the promotional tent for Sun City West. Seven years ago she returned to Central Ohio to be surrounded by family. Always a social and community minded person, she quickly made Delaware, Ohio her home. The family is especially grateful for the care provided by Capital City Hospice.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center Community Room, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, OH 43015.   In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Ohio, 1379 Dublin Rd. The Godby’s

  • My thought and prayers are with your family at this most difficult time. She was a wonderful lady and I know she will be truly missed.

  • My memory from 50 years ago is a tad fuzzy but I am 99.9% sure that in 1971 Elsa was my legal secretary at Borden in downtown Columbus. She was a delightful and competent person. She once bet me $5 that Good Friday was a Holy Day of obligation – I said otherwise. She called the Diocese. I was right – told her to put the $5 in the collection basket. Seventy-two years of marriage together is a great blessing. My condolences to and prayers for you Bob, and the rest of your family.
