BELLVILLE: The world lost a bright light when Elnora Cates Miller, age 88, peacefully passed away January 1, 2017 in Chiefland, Florida under the care of Haven Hospice following an extended illness.

She was born September 18, 1928 to parents Frank & Lillie Mae (Lent) Burkepile in Richland County and was graduated from Butler High School.

Elnora was a full time mother and grandmother as well as being a caretaker for various family members and friends over the years. She was a kind and loving friend to everyone she met and will be dearly missed.

She was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion Post #535 of Bellville, and a lifelong member of Disabled American Veterans in honor of her grandson Evan.

Elnora is survived by her brother Robert “Bob” & Bonnie Burkepile of Mansfield; sister Leora Burns of Mansfield; children (& spouses) Lynn & Jackie Cates of Springhill, FL, Mary Britten of Trenton, FL, and Bob & Cheryl Cates of Redford, MI; four grandchildren Erin McQuiston, Evan McQuiston, David Cates, and Justin Cates; three great-granddaughters; and numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Since her passing, her son-in-law Henry Britten has also passed away.

A graveside service honoring Elnora’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 in Zion Cemetery near Butler and Celebrant Jerry Wilson will officiate.
