Elmer E. Beatty

Elmer E. Beatty, 88, of rural Galion, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Galion Community Hospital.
Born Feb. 28, 1923 in Marion, he was the son of the late Earl and Colbey Beatty. He was preceded in death on July 5, 1988 by his wife, Mary Esther Kelly whom he married on Feb. 20, 1945.
Elmer was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the Philippines, where he was a cook. After the war he went to auto mechanic school. He first worked at the Marion Engineer Depot which was his last employment working for someone else. After that, Elmer always had his own business, first owning and operating a Sunoco filling station in Marion and later operating Beatty’s Garage, an auto repair business on his Crawford County farm where he also farmed many years.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Mike Rausch of Galion; one son, Robert Huebner of Mississippi; two grandchildren, Shawn Rausch and Sherrie Matt Dull, both of Galion; two great-grandchildren, Travis Dull and Chelsee McCoy; one great-great-granddaughter, Addison McCoy; one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Arthur Stephens of Marion and one niece, Nancy Heuberger of Waldo.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Otto T. Beatty.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Mansfield Memorial Park with Pastor Tom Snode officiating. There will be no visitation.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion.
