MANSFIELD: Elmer Davis Wilson, 82, of Anderson, South Carolina, and formerly of Trenton Drive, Mansfield, died in his home Tuesday, April 19, 2005, following a short illness.

Elmer was born April 14, 1923 in East Chicago, Illinois to Joseph Clifford and Libbie Lillian (Christian) Wilson.

He was employed as a truck driver by Stone Container until 1965. From 1965 to 1981 he was vice-president and secretary-treasurer of The Teamsters Union Local #40, of which he had been a member for more than 41 years. He took great pride in his outstanding and loyal service to the Mansfield community. He moved to Anderson, South Carolina in 1982.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife Jean Ann (Vitcusky) Wilson; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Rosemary Wilson of Seneca, South Carolina; sons Alan Wilson of Denver, Colorado, Mike Wilson of Anderson, South Carolina, Steve Wilson of Delton, South Carolina and Joe Wilson of Irmo, South Carolina; two daughters and sons-in-law Sherri and Earl Timmons and Darlene and Henry Neal all of Mansfield; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; five sisters and three brothers-in-law Edna and Elmer White of Middletown, Esther and Luther Phillips of Centerville, Edith Black of Morehead, Kentucky, Margaret and Ray Cline of Lexington and Eva Wilson of Centerville; a sister-in-law Juanita Wilson of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, a brother Charles “Ed” Wilson, a grandchild and two great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, April 24, 2005 at 2 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home with The Rev. Marilou Brook officiating. Friends may call the hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
