Ellen I. Delaney, age 88, of Mount Gilead, passed away Wednesday morning, August 8, 2018, at the Galion Community Hospital.
She was born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio on September 13, 1929, the daughter of the late Glenn L. and Frances D. (Wilson) Dome. On June 11, 1948, Ellen married the love of her life Robert D. Delaney in Greenup, Kentucky. The two moved to Mount Gilead in 1961 to raise their family. Ellen was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Gilead.
Ellen was a homemaker and loved tending to her family’s needs. She also enjoyed taking care of her fish and numerous outdoors kittens from the neighborhood. Ellen loved to shop at Goodwill, take short trips, and play Yahtzee and Bingo. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons: Robert (Maydell) Delaney, of Mount Gilead, and Dave Delaney of Galion; two daughters: Fran (Larry) Persinger of Mount Gilead, and Mary Bench of Marion; 10 grandchildren, Sherry (Brett), Lori, Larry (Ginger), Tammy (Kris), Shelly, Johnny, Bobbi (John), Sharon (Cory), Mike (Angel), and Danny; 26 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Dome of Bucyrus; a sister, Yvonne Hunter of Dayton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon S. Delaney in infancy; a great grand daughter, Nicole; a brother: Francis “Bud” Dome; sisters: Edna Malone and Dorothy Malone; and a daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Delaney.
Her family will greet friends from 11 AM to 1 PM, on Friday, August 10, 2018, at Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel. (67 North Main Street, Mount Gilead) A celebration of her life will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Stephan Bloomfield officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.
