Elizabeth M. “Betty” Wiesner, age 87 of Delaware died early Friday morning, December 5, 2008 at Delaware Court.

She was born on November 30, 1921 in Potsdam, NY to the late Leo and Ellen (Brannen) Anable. A graduate of Potsdam State Teachers College, in 1943 she became a school teacher for the Norwood School System and in 1944 for the Mahopack School System, both in New York.

In 1944 she married her husband Frank Wiesner, as he served his Country during WW II. Together they shared almost 65 wonderful years, enjoying life and raising a beloved family. After living in Syracuse, N.Y. and Irwin, PA, they moved to Delaware in 2002 to be near family.

A member of St. Mary Church in Delaware, she was also a member and librarian for the Corinthian Club in Syracuse and assisted at the Blessed Sacrament School, where her children attended. A lifelong learner, she enjoyed reading and needlework of all types. Always caring and lovable, she will be remembered for her steadfast will and friendly ways.

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by children: Ellen (Bill) Coons of Grottoes, VA, Elizabeth Robechek of Santa Fe, NM, Barbara Wiesner of Delaware, James Wiesner of Galion, Grandchildren: Lisa (Nick) Morris, Cara (Donald) deVoil, Great-grandchildren: John and Callum.

She was preceded in death by a sister Mary Smith.

Friends may call Monday 4 – 8:00 p.m., with prayer services 7:00 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware with Rev. James Black Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary Church.
