MANSFIELD: Elizabeth Jean Banner, 98, of Mansfield, passed away Thursday morning, December 13, 2018 in the Manor House at Wedgewood Estates.

The daughter of Edward and Martha (Sheriff) Anthony, Jean was born May 11, 1920 in Cleveland and was graduated from Shaker Heights High School.  She later earned a degree in education from Ohio University.

A caring and loving wife and mother, Jean married Robert Banner on August 15, 1942.  Her focus was on caring for her family.  Jean was positive and outgoing.  An accomplished seamstress, Jean had made her own clothing.  Living an active lifestyle, Jean’s walks were a part of her daily routine.  She even walked into her mid 90’s.

Jean lived most of her life in the Painesville area.  She was a member of Painesville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School.  Jean was a member of the Literary Club, Child Research Club, various bridge clubs, and sewing clubs.

She traveled worldwide both with Bob and her friends.  She will be remembered for her sweet and loving personality.

She is survived by her children Richard Banner of Ballwin, Missouri, Barbara (Michael) Durchik of Mansfield, and Scott Banner of Mansfield; grandchildren Krista, Matthew, Bryan (Holli) and Nicholas (Holly); great-grandchildren Cayden, Madyson, Jackson, Brock, Isla, Arlo, and Raelynn; nieces, nephews and extended family.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Jeanette Banner; siblings Richard and Charles Anthony.

A celebration of life service will be held in the Manor House of Wedgewood Estates on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 4-6 pm where friends are welcome to come and share memories of Jean.  Private graveside services will be held in Concord Cemetery near Painesville.

The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve Jean’s family.
