Elizabeth A. Osmond

Elizabeth Ann Osmond (O’Donnell, McClurg, Snyder), 98, died peacefully March 17, 2018 at Wedgewood Estates where she resided for the past 11 years.
Elizabeth, the oldest of five children, was born in Mansfield, Ohio on June 17, 1919 to Lester J. Snyder and Anna Santos Snyder. She graduated from Mansfield Senior High school in 1937. After graduation she attended classes at Mansfield Business School, following which she was employed at the Ohio Fuel & Gas Co. in the accounting department prior to the war.
In her early years, Elizabeth was active in various community volunteer organizations such as the American Cancer Society and March of Dimes. She was also a member of the Helen Hayden Women’s Charity Club.
A devout Catholic, Elizabeth was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where she was actively involved in church and school activities. Elizabeth enjoyed cooking, especially baking, as well as gardening, knitting and numerous hobbies. Elizabeth loved the game of golf and was a member of Westbrook Country Club for over 50 years where she was a member of the 18th-hole Women’s League and the Friday Night League. Just before her 65th birthday she shot a hole-in-one!
As well as being predeceased by her parents she is also preceded in death by her siblings: Frederick Snyder, Florence (Snyder) Baum, Sr. Tecla Snyder, OSF, and Lucille Snyder; her three husbands First Lt. Robert K. McClurg, Jeremiah F. O’Donnell, and Harold D. Osmond.
She is survived by her children R. Patrick McClurg of Las Vegas, NV, Jeri A. O’Donnell of Columbus, OH, and M. Teresa O’Donnell of Delaware, OH; step-children Eileen (O’Donnell) Hanley, Lonna Osmond, Martin P. (Deborah) Osmond all from Columbus, OH; five step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
The family is deeply grateful for the care mother received from the staff at Wedgewood Estates and OhioHealth Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 1 p.m. in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 104 W. First Street, Mansfield, Ohio with an hour prior of calling at 12 p.m. Father Ted Miller will officiate with burial to follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Monsignor Dunn Foundation or St. Peter’s Development Fund may be made through the funeral home.
