Elfriede (Lahm) Getz

MANSFIELD:  Elfriede Getz, being reunited with her loving husband,  passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Friday, November 30, 2018 from OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital surrounded by her family. She was 83.

Born Elfriede Lahm December 21, 1934 in Chervenka, Yugoslavia to parents Daniel & Magdalena (Glaesser) Lahm, she came to this country in 1938.

She was a faithful member of Apostolic Christian Church on Middle Bellville Road. She taught the three-year-old Sunday school class for many years and was also very involved working in the church kitchen.

Family was most important to Elfriede, always putting their needs first. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn (Terry) Au of Mansfield and son Steven (Renee) Getz of Lexington; grandchildren Brian, David (Emily), and Steven Au and Rebecca, Jonathan (Cassidy), Heather, and Kristy Getz; sister Leona (Robert) Freund of Syracuse, New York; brothers-in-law Paul (Delores) Getz of Mansfield and Roland (Shirley) Getz of Arizona; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 54 years Richard Edward Getz who passed away in 2012.

The family will receive friends today, Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 2 ~ 5 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The worship service, giving glory to God, and thanksgiving for the life of Elfriede Getz will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in The Apostolic Christian Church, 1332 Middle Bellville Road. Her nephew, David Freund, will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions to the Akron Ronald McDonald House may be made through the funeral home.
