On October 17, 1954, Eleanor married her loving husband of over 52 years, Paul L. Arndt, in Crestline, Ohio. Shortly after, they moved to his hometown of Marion. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2007.

A woman of deep faith, Eleanor was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church. Very active within her church, she served on the Altar Guild, in the Woman’s Circle, and she was “thrilled” to be able to sing in the church choir for many years. When she wasn’t able to attend church, she enjoyed listening to the sermons over the radio.
Eleanor was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 162, and volunteered her time at the Marion General Hospital and with the American Red Cross.
With a love of traveling, Eleanor always looked forward to trips to New York City to enjoy the lights and more importantly, the Broadway Shows.
Having a heart of gold, Eleanor cared deeply for her family and friends which she would show in her own unique soft spoken way. She especially enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.
With a playful spirit, she enjoyed playing cards in the Marion Canasta Club and bowling in various leagues.
