Eleanor Rose Arron

October 15, 1917 ‒ November 03, 2015

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Eleanor Rose Arron went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday November 3, 2015 in Elmcroft Assisted Living in Ontario. She was 98.

She was born October 15, 1917 to parents Godfried & Rose Star in Crestline and was graduated from Mansfield Senior High. She worked many years as a secretary for Mansfield Tire and Superior Brass.

On October 19, 1946, she married John George Arron and they shared 37 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in 1983. They are now together again.

Eleanor helped her husband keep the books for their gas station, J&E’s Sohio Service in Mansfield, which they owned for 23 years. An avid reader, she especially enjoyed reading Billy Graham books. Above all, Eleanor loved family gatherings and cherished time spent with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Her friends and family will remember her as the ultimate Lady with a gracious and humble spirit.

She was a faithful member of Ridgeway First Church of God in Mansfield and was active with their Vacation Bible School program and created the church’s newsletter for over 10 years. Eleanor never missed a church service.

She is survived by two children & their spouses: David & Becky Arron of Medina, and Becky & Bruce Williams of Mansfield; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Angela Cook and her son Cademon of Medina, Jon & Michelle Arron and their children Cooper, Keane, and Finley of Endwell, NY, Ben Arron of Lexington, Lyndsay Williams of Mansfield, and Heather & Joe Shamp and their son Evan of Yelm, WA; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant great-grandson Ethan Shamp, a brother Joseph Star, and a sister Mary Bailet.

Her family will receive friends 3-6 p.m. Friday evening, November 6, 2015 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service honoring her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday morning. Friends are invited to call the hour before the service and Pastor John Dodds will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to OhioHealth Hospice may be made at or sent to the funeral home (PO Box 3085 Mansfield OH 44904).

  • Dear Family of Eleanor, I had the joy of sharing life with Eleanor. She has been a part of our Women of Faith Sunday School class for many years. she will be dearly missed. She taught me how to grow old gracefully. Also her life was a testimony of her Lord Jesus to all she meet. Peace Retta
