Eldon D. Frakes, age 70 of Sunbury passed away Thursday, September 22, 2005 at Bennington Glenn in Marengo following a 3 year illness.

He was born of Dec. 31, 1934 in Center Village to the late Fred W. and Grace A. (Piper) Frakes. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Big Walnut High School in 1952. For 45 years he owned and operated Frakes Towing, retiring in 2002. He was a school bus driver for Big Walnut Schools for 10 years. Eldon was a former member of the BST & G Fire Dept., Sunbury Eagles, and Sunbury Lions Club. He was known on the CB radio network as “Fat Albert” and for his working companion and dog “Mutley”. Ornery at heart, cantankerous in spirit, he was a hardworking jokester, who enjoyed horses, trucks and wreckers.

Survived by Children: Pam (Don) Stover of Marengo, Tammy (Gene) Hogg of Sunbury, Terry Frakes of Grove City, Twin Daughters: Carla Hettinger of Delaware, Darla Conklin (Billy Fling) of Sunbury, 4 Grandchildren: Ryan, Mikayla, Gene, Colton, former wife of 27 years: Donna Jean (Jaynes) Frakes. Sister: Rita (Kenneth) Hardin of Aiken, SC, Niece: Rochelle (Bill) Day Taylor and their son Christian.

Preceded in death by son: Steven in 1962.

Friends may call Monday 5-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be held Tuesday 11:00 a.m., with Chaplain Lou Basso of VistaCare Hospice officiating, interment will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park.
