February 17, 1925 ‒ July 14, 2015
Eileen Lay passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in Twilight Gardens Nursing Home in Norwalk surrounded by her family. She was 90.
She was born February 17, 1925 to parents Fred & Beulah (McMaster) Taylor in Monroe, Michigan. Eileen was graduated from Upper Sandusky High School, with the class of 1943.
On October 5, 1946, she married Barney Lay and they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in 1997. They are together again.
During WWII Eileen worked at Bud’s Sporting Goods and Sunoco, until becoming a wife and mother. She was an exceptional homemaker and cook. Eileen was well known for her excellent cooking but was most famous for her fried chicken, pies, and macaroni salad. She was a former member of the Robert Castor Ladies Auxiliary, and the United Methodist Church of the Cross.
In spare time, she took pleasure in going to Lake Erie, flea markets, and in her younger years was an avid bowler at Village Lanes. But above all, Eileen cherished family. She was a wonderful wife and mother.
She is survived by her children Cheryl (Steve) Riggs of Lucas, Jerry Lay of Greenwich, and granddaughters Tonna (John) Black, Jaquie (Ronny) Roose.
In addition to her loving husband, Barney, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Fred C. Taylor.
Graveside services will be at 11 am on Wednesday July 22, 2015 at Lexington Cemetery. Pastor TJ Waters will officiate.
