Edythe Walker Ferris, 83 of Lakeland, Florida and formerly of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Ashland, Ohio on Sept 4, 1931 to Thomas R and Ouida (Devore) Walker. She was a 1948 graduate of Utica High School.
Edythe moved to Lakeland in 1969 and began working at LRMC where she worked for 41 years until her retirement in March 2010. She was also known as the “Rum ball Lady” to many of her co-workers and friends.
She is survived by her special girls, Terry Ferris Vaughan of Lakeland, Florida, Cherryl Pursel of Mount Vernon and Paula (Robert) Murphy of Huntsville, Texas, a son, Thom Randles of Mount Vernon, a sister Darlene Loriaux of Mount Vernon, four grandchildren, Alissa (Josh) Morrison, Evan (Amanda) Vaughan and Morgan Bittner Webster all of Lakeland, Florida and Kylie Parrish of Lake Hamilton, Florida, five great grandchildren, Landen Vaughan, Dylan Morrison, James Webster, Hannah Webster and Abbey Webster all of Lakeland, Florida. She is also survived by several nieces and great nieces from Mount Vernon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son David Alan, a brother, Edward Walker and sisters, Ouida Opal and Chloris Fritz.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 27, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home with a memorial service beginning at 6 p.m. Bill Pursel will be officiating. The family will observe a private burial in Mound View Cemetery.
